Another Walk to Colindres de Arriba

July 30, 2009
Snail on Stone Wall (crop)

by erikrasmussen, on Flickr")Last year, I took you on a walk up to Colindres de Arriba. Recently I took my camera up there for another stroll. This time, however, I was armed with some close-up lenses to get even closer to the plants and wildlife. Let's go for a photographic stroll, shall we? Flower

A flower. The textures on the petals are really quite nice. Worth viewing large.

Lizard on Rubble

I saw several of these guys, who were out soaking up the sun, dart into the shadows as we approached. I waited silently for a minute for this one to come back out.

Sprouts

I'm not sure what this crop is, but there was a whole field of it sprouting up from the earth.

Slug Track

I think this guy didn't make it back to the shade before the heat of the day heated the asphalt and cooked him. What a shiny trail!

Tree Bark

Tree bark.

Tree Bark Macro

Popped the 10x lens on to examine the tree bark.

Tree Bark Macro

Depth of field moved back to the tree.

Ant On Tree

Every tree has an ant.

Red Flower

I didn't change the saturation of this image at all, I swear!

Succulent Plant

A cool plant, but I don't think it's the same as the one my readers informed me was called Hen and Chicks last year, but I could be mistaken.

Throny Briars

Thorny.

Baby Leaf

They prune all the branches off these trees every winter, and every spring and summer they grow again, so they all have, amongst the full-grown leaves, lots of these little baby leaves. Awwww!

Colindres de Arriba Panorama

I noticed that they were clearing a bunch of land on the other side of these houses, so I figured I should take a "before" panorama to compare with some future panorama.

Is there a needle in there?

Can you imagine trying to find a needle in there? It'd be like finding...oh wait.

Corner of Medieval Church

My favorite corner of the medieval church that's up there.

Church Stone Wall

Church wall texture.

Gnome Flower Pot

Hard-working garden gnome.

Two Hardworking Gnomes

I like the angle and depth of field on this shot.

Daisies

Daisies! Or, in Spanish, margaritas!

Delightful place for tea

A delightful place for tea. ...if you can stop working in the garden long enough to sit down.

Iglesia de San Juan

The medieval church, La Iglesia de San Juan Bautista, in front of Pico Candiano, the mountain that overlooks our little town.

Snail on Stone Wall

Snail on a stone wall. This one also might be worth viewing large.

Purple Flowers

Some purple flowers. Man, I love the summer...

Tiny Snail near Moss

A itty bitty snail on a wall next to some moss. This was with a 10x lens, too.

There you have it. A walk up to "upper" Colindres. I'm glad I got these photos published this week because we're leaving on vacation on Saturday, and that always generates a ton of photo blog material.
