Another Walk to Colindres de Arriba

by erikrasmussen, on Flickr")Last year, I took you on a walk up to Colindres de Arriba. Recently I took my camera up there for another stroll. This time, however, I was armed with some close-up lenses to get even closer to the plants and wildlife. Let's go for a photographic stroll, shall we?

A flower. The textures on the petals are really quite nice. Worth viewing large.

I saw several of these guys, who were out soaking up the sun, dart into the shadows as we approached. I waited silently for a minute for this one to come back out.

I'm not sure what this crop is, but there was a whole field of it sprouting up from the earth.

I think this guy didn't make it back to the shade before the heat of the day heated the asphalt and cooked him. What a shiny trail!

Tree bark.

Popped the 10x lens on to examine the tree bark.

Depth of field moved back to the tree.

Every tree has an ant.

I didn't change the saturation of this image at all, I swear!

A cool plant, but I don't think it's the same as the one my readers informed me was called Hen and Chicks last year, but I could be mistaken.

Thorny.

They prune all the branches off these trees every winter, and every spring and summer they grow again, so they all have, amongst the full-grown leaves, lots of these little baby leaves. Awwww!

I noticed that they were clearing a bunch of land on the other side of these houses, so I figured I should take a "before" panorama to compare with some future panorama.

Can you imagine trying to find a needle in there? It'd be like finding...oh wait.

My favorite corner of the medieval church that's up there.

I like the angle and depth of field on this shot.

A delightful place for tea. ...if you can stop working in the garden long enough to sit down.

Snail on a stone wall. This one also might be worth viewing large.

Some purple flowers. Man, I love the summer...

There you have it. A walk up to "upper" Colindres. I'm glad I got these photos published this week because we're leaving on vacation on Saturday, and that always generates a ton of photo blog material.
